A trapper named Wintrop lives in a lonesome hut in the mountains, together with his father, his son Tim, a scout named Matt and a wolf dog named Buck. One day a gang of outlaws rob and kill grandpa in his absence. Wintrop is determined to hunt them down and get his revenge. With the help of Buck, Tim and Matt they find the gang and are just in time to save Corinne from the gang. During the fight Corrine's father dies so Wintrop asks her to move into his home with Tim, Matt and Buck.

Remembering Martin Balsam

Born Martin Henry Balsam on November 4, 1919 in the Bronx, New York where he participated in the drama club.at DeWitt Clinton High School. After graduation he attended the Dramatic Workshop before joining U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. After the war he was selected by director Elia Kazan and Lee Strasburg to become a member of the Actors Studio televsion program. He would appear in many television programs in the '50s and '60s. He also appeared in several films including “On the Waterfront”, “12 Angry Men” “Psycho” “Cape Fear”, “Catch 22”, “Tora! Tora! Tora!”. He won a best supporting Oscar for his performance in 1965's “A Thousand Clowns”. He is the father of actress Talia Balsam from his marriage to second wife Joyce Van Patten. During the 1970s Balsam expanded his acting stage to Europe and appeared in his only Spaghetti Western 1974's “Cipola Colt” (aka “Spaghetti Western”) with Franco Nero as Petrus Lamb the man with the mechanical hand. Balsam died in Rome, Italy of a heart attack on February 13, 1996. We remember him today on what would have been his 90th birthday.

Tonino Ricci (aka Anthony Richmond) made a series of White Fang/Buck movies over the years (“White Fang to the Rescue” (1974), “Buck at the Edge of Heaven” (1991) and “Buck and the Magic Bracelet” (1994) all featuring the wolf-dog Buck). Buck is the canine guardian of a camp of gold miners headed up by Zeb and his son Kevin. Without warning the Whip gang invades massacre everyone and Buck is captured and hauled off to be used in dog fights back in town.
This sets up a revenge film for the miners and Kevin. After the Whip gang's attack Natty and his sidekick, an Indian medicine man Shanka, arrive to find that Kevin has somehow survived. There’s no trace of Zeb, though since he was shot twice and dumped in the river, things don’t look too good for him. Natty patches up Kevin and they leave the camp to head back to town, but not before Shanka leaves a note for Zeb in case he survived from his bullet wounds and hypothermia and returns to the camp.
The Whip gang is lead by a Bible-spoutting woman who is supposedly the mother of the rest of the members in the gang. The gang is pretty sadistic and when they’re not killing, and robbing they are usually fighting amongst themselves.

RIP José Luis López Vazquez

Spanish actor José Luis López Vazquez, died at his home in Madrid today November 2nd after a long illness at the age of 87. With more than 200 films to his name, including ‘Novio a la vista’, ‘El pisito’, ‘Atraco a las tres’ and ‘Plácido’ he was one of the most prolific actors of film and stage in Spain. Lopez Vazquez began his career in the performing arts at the the Teatro Español Universitario in 1951. Jose Luis was born in Madrid on March 11, 1922 his first film work was as an assistant director. He was honoured with awards such as the Gold Medal for Fine Arts, the National Theatre Prize and a Goya of Honour. He was awarded an Emmy in 1973 for the TV film, ‘La Cabina’. He had spent the last few years of his life as a recluse, suffering from breathing, hearing and vision difficulties. Vazquez appeared in one Euro-western "The Legend of Frenchie King" (1971) with Brigitte Bardot and Claudia Cardinale.

Happy 95th Birthday Aldo Giordani

Aldo Giordani was born in Rome, Italy on November 2, 1914. He became a camera operator in 1937 on the film “Il signor Max” directed by Mario Camerini and starring Vittorio De Sica. His first film as a cinematographer was on 1943's “Apparizione” directed by Jean de Limur and starring Massimo Girotti and Alida Valli. He would finish his career in 1976 on the TV show “Orzowei, il figlio della savana”. During his 40 year career he was involved in seven Euro-westerns: “El Rojo” and “Kill or be Killed” (1966), “The Handsome, the Ugly and the Stupid” as Aldo Marini (1967), “Three Silver Dollars” (1968), “They Call Me Trinity” (1970), “Trinity is Still My Name” (1971), and “Man of the East” (1972). Today we celebrate Aldo Giordani's 95th birthday.

This early Fulci western features Tom, a gold panner who receives a note from a family friend to return home. His brother, Jeff, owns the family farm, but upon returning Jeff is nowhere to be found and the area is now owned by Mr. Scott. The townsfolk don't take too kindly to strangers and Mr. Scott and his son, Jr., have a reign of terror going against the townspeople. When one family wants to move away, Scott asks why leave the town where your dead are buried? When the old man replies he has no dead buried in this town, Jr. shoots the old man's son saying he does now. It becomes obvious that the backbone of this terror is played out at the hands of Jr. and Scott is reluctant to play along.

Tom locates Jeff and his Indian maid and they quickly tell him to leave immediately. Tom says he won't go anywhere until he finds out why Carradine sent the note for him to come home. But before Carradine has a chance to tell Tom, Scott's men shoot him and his whole family. When Tom finally meets with Scott, he gets in a fight with Jr. and is almost whipped to death. Later that night, Scott's men come and the Indian maid is killed, so Jeff and Tom head out seeking revenge.

It turns out that Scott is Tom's real father and he had the note sent as he wanted them to be together, but Jr. wanted everything for himself and was trying to keep Tom away. For revenge against the death of his father, Jeff kills Scott, and the two head out after Jr. After killing off about 30 of Scott's men, Jr. takes a nasty little fall to his death.
