[These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be given and anything that you can add would be appreciated.]
Mascha Elm-Rabben born on December 31, 1941 in Hamburg, Germany. Rabben began her acting career in 1970 with her debut role as Jessy in Roland Klick's neo-Western “Deadlock”, where she portrayed a young woman, whose character is shot and killed. That same year, she appeared in minor or uncredited parts in other productions, including “The School Girls” and the television movie ‘Der Bomberpilot’. In 1971, Rabben took on the title role of Salome in Werner Schroeter's experimental television adaptation of Oscar Wilde's play ‘Salome’, a work noted for its avant-garde style and shot in a Roman temple setting. Her 1972 role as Harlis in Robert van Ackeren's “The Sensuous Three” (also released as “Harlis”) featured her as a member of a cabaret troupe in a drama exploring sexual themes. These early credits reflected the eclectic mix of genre films, independent productions, and experimental works common in West German cinema during the early 1970s and positioned her for subsequent collaborations with prominent New German Cinema directors.
Mascha has established a career as a translator, primarily rendering English-language works in self-help, spirituality, and related genres into German. One of her notable translations is Clarissa Pinkola Estés' Women Who Run with the Wolves, published in German as Die Wolfsfrau: Die Kraft der weiblichen Urinstinkte by Heyne in 1993
Mascha Elm-Rabben appeared in one Euro-western, “Deadlock” as Jessi in 1970.
