Little Known Western actors ~ Luc Dartagnan

[These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be given and anything that you can add would be appreciated.]

Lucien Auguste Bourguignat was born in Paris, France on April 11, 1863. Before going on stage, he worked as a bronze editor as his father had been before him. He was also an opera singer (baritone) in the 1890s and 1900s. He used the stage name Luc Dartagnan and just Dartagnan.

Apart from the press articles that have been devoted to the filming and release of the films in which he participated, little is known about Luc, who was active in the cinema for about fifteen years between 1912 and 1928 and appeared in 26 films. Some of his work includes “The Fall of the House of Usher”, “Nana”, “Une Femme a Passé”, “The Red Inn”, “Madame Sans-Gêne”, and “Fumes”.

His only Euro-western was the silent film “La fille du lion” in 1923 as Giacomo Rossi.
