Little Known Spaghetti Western Actors ~ Johnny Butt

[These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be given and anything that you can add would be appreciated.]

Born George John Butt in Shoreditch, London, England, U.K. on April 3, 1878. According to most film records he is credited with 89 films beginning in 1906. Butt did in fact appear in hundreds of films, starting as early as in 1897, and is widely considered the first professional movie-actor of England.

Johnn is the father of Catherine Butt [1902–    ] and Clara Butt [1904-    ] with Catherine Buttler [1879-19??]. They married in 1906. (1906-19??). Johnny was also the uncle of actor Jimmy Butt [1897-19??].

Unfortunately, no one seems to know what happened to him and his family. Not even a definite date of death sometime in April 1931 in Lambeth, London, England.

Butt appeared in two British silent westerns: “Twixt Red Man and White” in 1910 as an Indian guide and ten years later in 1920 he appeared in “Settled in Full”.
