French singer, musician, writer, actress Françoise Hardy
died on June 11, 2024, in Paris, Île-de-France, France from cancer she was 80. Born Françoise
Madeleine Hardy in Paris on January 17, 1944, she began her career at 18 in
1962 with a first appearance on French TV. She was immediately successful and
became an icon of the "yéyé" period in France but soon developed her
own peculiar style. She sang mainly in French but also in English, German and
Italian. She toured extensively during the first six years of her career and
then retired to continue writing, composing and singing with various composers
and musicians. In 1981 she married the French singer Jacques Dutronc in
1981. They previously had a son Thomas in 1973. Hardy appeared in two
Euro-westerns: “A Fistful of
Songs” (1966) as a performer where she sang “Parla mi di te” and in the 1969 TV
movie ‘The Man Who Came from Cher’
(TV) as Suzanne and where she sang
“Comment te dire adieu”.
