It will arrive in theaters on January 27th distributed by Lucky Red in collaboration with timvision, Ennio by Giuseppe Tornatore, a full-fledged portrait of Ennio Morricone, the most popular and prolific musician of the twentieth century, the most loved by the international public, twice Oscar winner, author of over 500 unforgettable soundtracks.
Presented out of competition at the Venice Film Festival and at Bif & st, the documentary tells Morricone through a long interview by Tornatore with the Maestro, testimonies of artists and directors - such as Bertolucci, Montaldo, Bellocchio, Argento, Taviani, Verdone, Barry Levinson, Roland Joffè, Oliver Stone, Quentin Tarantino, Clint Eastwood, Bruce Springsteen - fictional scenes, music and archive images.
“I worked for twenty-five years with Ennio Morricone” says Tornatore . “I have done almost all my films with him, not to mention the documentaries, commercials and projects that we have tried to put together without success. During all this time our friendship has been consolidated more and more. So, film after film, as my knowledge of his character as a man and as an artist deepened, I always wondered what kind of documentary I could make about him. And today my dream has come true » .
Ennio is written and directed by Giuseppe Tornatore , with photography Fabio Zamarion and Giancarlo Leggeri, editing by Massimo Quaglia and Annalisa Schillaci, sound by Gilberto Martinelli and Fabio Venturi. The film is an Italy-Belgium-China-Japan co-production, produced by Gianni Russo and Gabriele Costa for piano B Produzioni Srl. International distribution is by Block 2 Distribution, Italian by Lucky Red in collaboration with timvision.
