In 1966’s “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” we see Tuco driving the Confederate ambulance to the mission San Antonio where he brother is in charge of. Upon arrival a monk helps Tuco drag Blondie into a room in the mission. There were actually two different locations used to accomplish this part of the film. The duo arrive at the mission and it’s exterior scene was filmed at the Cortijo del Fraile in southern Spain. After Blondie is taken inside the mission the interior scenes were filmed at another location called San Pedro de Arlanza Monastery in northern Spain not far from the battle for the Langstone Bridge scene.
Cortijo del Fraile was used for the exterior shots of
Mission San Antonio.
San Pedro de Arlanza Monastery was used for the interior
scenes for Mission San Antonio.
