"Storie scellerate is not a film about the life of
the suburbs, but represents, in a certain sense, the cultural effort made by a
member of the Roman underclass to go back to the world of his fathers and
grandfathers (with the help of Belli, of course)". This is what Father
Virgilio Fantuzzi, one of the few essayists to follow Sergio Citti's work
attentively, wrote when reviewing Storie scellerate. The second feature film of
the "Pittoretto della Maranella", the film at the time was mistakenly
catalogued among the decamerotics. It was a serious misunderstanding, because
the film, initially conceived as a Decameron number 2 in the hands of Citti,
assisted in the screenplay by Pier Paolo Pasolini, has become a personal
novelist that mixes high culture (Bandello, Belli, Boccaccio), with low culture
(oral literature, stornelli, proverbs and facts). And it even becomes an
anthology that collects the main themes of the cinema of the Capitoline author.
With a preface by Paolo Micalizzi.
