RIP Joe Bugner - Former British, European and
Commonwealth heavyweight champion Joe Bugner died in a care home in Brisbane,
Australia. He was 75. Born József Kreul Bugner in Szőreg, Hungary on March 13,
1950, Bugner twice shared the ring with Muhammad Ali, losing both fights on
points, and traded punches with some of the biggest names in his heavyweight
era. Bugner's professional career ended with a record of 69 wins, including 41
knockouts, 13 defeats and one draw. He would go on to appear in several films
and become a television boxing analyst in Australia. Joe appeared in one
Spaghetti western as Sheriff Bronson in 1981’s “Buddy Goes West” starring Bud
Spencer.
