RIP Salvatore Puntillo

 

Italian theater, film, TV and voice actor Salvatore Puntillo died of a heart attack in Rome on July 14^th. He was two weeks short of turning 89. Born in Rende, Calabria, Italy on July 27, 1935, he made his film debut in the first half of the 1960s as a supporting actor. While remaining in the large ranks of Italian character actors, over the years he proved his versatility as an actor who was able to juggle different film genres well: in fact, his filmography boasts over fifty films ranging from comedies to erotica and from detective to dramas and westerns. Puntillo appeared in four Spaghetti westerns: “A Stranger in Town” in 1966 as a priest, “Behold the Strange, Stimulating Smell of Dollars” in 1973 as Ramirez, “The Four of the Apocalypse” in 1975 as the recovering man and “A Man Called Blade” in 1977 as Johnny Johnny.
