Anecdotes of the extras

The tools used to disguise the peasants as Mexicans (their faces were burnt by the sun and they didn't need make-up), and the many gypsies in Fraga used to disguise them, for the same reason, as Indians or Mexicans. And the gypsies were also interested in renting them all: babies and small children were paid the same as an adult.

So many people acting as extras gave many anecdotes. Like this one in which an extra from Seròs (Segrià) who had already worked in two films before was suspicious of the technicians' explanations about the scene in which they would hang him from a tree. The technicians assured him that, in addition to the rope, he would have harnesses attached to his back that would allow him to breathe as if nothing had happened, but the extra took advantage of a moment of carelessness and ran off the set. He didn't come back until a couple of days later...
