“Sergio Leone, the Italian who invented America” directed
by Francesco Zippel, produced by Sky Studios and Sky Italia with Leone Film
Group, is the Documentary of the Year 2023. This was announced by the SNGCI
that will deliver the Nastro d'Argento to the director in Rome, immediately
after the Berlin Film Festival, together with the awards for the best
documentaries. The Zippel doc struck the journalists for "the originality
and emotion that you breathe from the first shot, renewing with affection and
great care the tribute to a Master never celebrated enough with an
unprecedented cut, rich in the most prestigious international testimonies. A
story that enhances the value of the innovative gaze and unique creativity of
Sergio Leone, a man born in the cinema who has made immortal sequences,
protagonists, music, and images of his cinema".
