Giovanna Ralli will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award during the 67th edition of the David di Donatello Awards, which will take place on May 3 in Cinecittà.

The announcement was made by Piera Detassis, president and artistic director of the Academy of Italian Cinema - David di Donatello Awards, in agreement with the Governing Council composed of Francesco Rutelli, Carlo Fontana, Nicola Borrelli, Francesca Cima, Edoardo De Angelis, Domenico Dinoia, Valeria Golino, Giancarlo Leone, Luigi Lonigro, Mario Lorini, Francesco Ranieri Martinotti. The award will be awarded on Tuesday 3 May during the ceremony, live on Rai1 from Cinecittà, conducted by Carlo Conti with Drusilla Foer.

"It was written for her, Roman de core, 'Sunday is always Sunday', the symbolic song of the musical A pair of wings, explains Detassis." But in the course of a multifaceted career, Giovanna Ralli has put her verve and dramatic impetus at the service of great authors such as Mario Monicelli, Ettore Scola, Roberto Rossellini, Vittorio De Sica, alongside legendary partners such as Tognazzi, Totò, Vittorio Gassman, Mastroianni and Sordi. The spearheads of her filmography, which began in the name of Aldo Fabrizi, are La vita agra by Carlo Lizzani, the character of the timeless Elide Catenacci in C'eravamo tanto amati, the Hollywood digressions directed by Blake Edwards and the scandalous role of lesbian, alongside Anouk Aimée, in the film La fuga by Paolo Spinola, interpreted with courage in 1964. Ralli has been many women and many protagonists, declining refined beauty and tradition of Trastevere, vivacity and modern malaise. This Lifetime Achievement David celebrates her return to film in Marcel, Jasmine Trinca's highly anticipated directorial debut."

ANICA President Francesco Rutelli declares: “The Lifetime Achievement David that will be awarded to Giovanna Ralli on the occasion of the 67th edition of the David di Donatello Awards is the award for a life dedicated to cinema and its profound relationship with the general public. The unanimous recognition goes to a woman who belongs to the Italian people and it is also an opportunity to remember, with the interpretation of her in La vita agra, the centenarians of the great director Carlo Lizzani and of the other protagonist, the incomparable Ugo

Tognazzi".
