Ann-Marie Wiman was born on June 6, 1921, in Växjö, Kronobergs län, Sweden. She was the daughter of the architect Adolf Wiman (1885–1947) and Anna (1897–1980, born Johansson). The father ran an architectural office in Växjö. Wiman was educated at Lalla Cassel's dance school from 1940 and from the spring of 1943 at Witzansky's theater school and the Student Theater in Stockholm. In the autumn of 1943, she began studying at the State School of Performing Arts in Gothenburg and during that time formed the Young Artists' International Foyer, where she sat on the board together with Åke Falck , Börje Nyberg and others.

She was an actress and composer, known for “Wild Strawberries” (1957), “Supper for Two” (1947) and “Foreign Intrigue” (1951).

From the end of the 1950s until her retirement, Ann-Mari Wiman worked as a drama teacher at the then newly started Vår Teater in Stockholm, during which time she was on leave for certain seasons for other engagements such as filming and further education and engagement at Dramaten (1960–1961) and a season as a directing assistant at the Opera in Stockholm. After her retirement, she continued to work as an actor and director and screenwriter for smaller theater groups, including Vår Teaters Veteraner who played around Stockholm. She was the initiator of rural games in Brännkyrka and for many years politically involved in the Center Party.

She was married to director, writer, actor Börje Nyberg and they had two children. Ann-Marie died on September 22, 2016, in Halmstad, Sweden.
