Spaghetti Western Locations for “A Bullet for the General”

Today we start a new search for filming locations for the film “Quien sabe?” (A Bullet for the General) directed by Damiano Damiani and starring Gian Maria Volonte, Lou Castel, Klaus Kinski and Martine Beswick.

The film opens with a firing squad shooting down four revolutionaries against a wall with women and children in the background crying. After the four men are shot down a narration begins telling about the origins of the Mexican Revolution. Watching the proceedings is a young American, Bill Tate (Lou Castel) dressed in a suit and tie wearing a business hat. He’s next seen at a train station where he walks past the waiting peons and forces himself into the front of the line to buy a ticket to the end of the line; Durango, Mexico. A young Mexican boy (Antonio Ruiz) taps him on the shoulder and asks if he is an American and if he likes Mexico. He replies, “No, not very much” and walks away. The opening credits and main theme then play as he walks across the railroad tracks and boards the train. 

The opening scene at the train station was filmed at the Baza train station near Guadix, Spain.
