RIP Janet Wright

English born Canadian actress Janet Wright died in Vancouver B.C., Canada on Monday November 14^th. She was 69. Born on March 8, 1945 in Farnborough, Hampshire, England, Wright and her family relocated to Canada and eventually settled in Saskatoon at a young age. Wright was the co-founder of Saskatoon's Persephone Theatre, and performed at virtually every major theatre company in Canada. She had been affiliated with the Vancouver Arts Club Theater since the early 1970s, and also directed for many major theatre companies across Canada, including productions at Ontario's Stratford Festival. She’s best known for her portrayal of the long-suffering matriarch Emma Leroy on "Corner Gas," broadcast on the CTV network. She also appeared as Eunice in 1971’s “McCabe & Mrs. Miller” and her lone Euro-western appearance was as Mrs. Judith Loftus in 1980’s “Huckleberry Finn and His Friends”.
