Flavio Bucci was born in Turin, Piedmont, Italy on May 25, 1947.
Born into a family of Molise - Apulian original
Casacalenda in the province of Campobasso, and Orta Nova in the province of
Foggia, he was trained professionally at the School of Theatre Stabile of Turin,
after which he was called to the cinema by Elio Petri , who wanted him as the
protagonist of his film “La proprietà non è più un furto” ( 1973 ).
In 1977 he became known to the general public acting the
television drama RAI ‘Ligabue’, directed by Salvatore Nocita, with whom he will
return to work in ‘Promessi Sposi’ (1989 ): also for television he starred in
‘Piovra’ (1984) by Damiano Damiani and in ‘L'avvocato Guerrieri - Ad occhi chiusi’
(2008) by Alberto Sironi.
After working with Giuliano Montaldo he appeared in such movies as
“L'Agnese va a morire” (1976), “Il giorno prima” (1987) and in televisions ‘Circuito
chiuso’ (1978), in films he is famous for his roles as “Il marchese del Grillo
di Mario Monicelli” (1981), “Tex e il signore degli abissi” (1985), “Secondo
Ponzio Pilato” (1987), “Teste rasate” (1993), “Il silenzio dell'allodola”
(2005) and “Il divo di Paolo Sorrentino” (2008).
He is married to Micaela Pignatelli with whom he has two sons,
Alexander and Lawrence. He has a third son, Ruben, from a relationship with the
Dutch producer Loes Kamsteeg.
