RIP Manfred Krug

German actor, singer, author Manfred Krug died in his Berlin home surrounded by his family on October 21sth. He was 79. Born on February 8, 1937 in Duisburg, Germany he began his acting career in 1954. He appeared in films and TV series in both East and West Germany before settling in West Berlin in 1977. He was best known for his role as Commissar Paul Stoever in 38 episodes of the TV series ‘Tatort’ from 1984-2001. Krug appeared in over 90 films and television series. Besides his acting achievements, he became one of East Germany's most popular singers in the 1960s and 1970s. He also wrote two best-selling autobiographies, "Abgehauen" (1997, Pushed Off) and "Mein schönes Leben" (2005, My Beautiful Life). He later became an advertising symbol for Deutsche Telekom and in 2007 apologized in an interview with "Stern" magazine to all shareholders who shares declined in value (2007). Krug appeared in one Euro-western as Wild Water Bill in 1974’s “Kit & Co.” starring the late Dean Reed.
