Roy
Bosier was born in Scotland, U.K. in 1931. Losing his hearing at four years of
age his parents returned to Switzerland where he learned lip reading. Bosier
became a furrier and also was a dancer taking lessons at the School of Applied
Arts in Zurich. He then moved to Paris where he worked with Pierre Cardin as an
intern and later an employee of the fashion designer. Bosier then became a
student of mime Etienne Decroux [1898-1991]. He then meets mimes Jean-Louis
Barrault [1910-1994], Marcel Marceau [1923-2007] and director Giorgio Strehler
[1921-1997]. Mareceu recommends Bosier to become and acting teacher and among
his students is Claudia Cardinale. This is followed by films with Sergio Leone,
Roman Polanski and Frederico Fellini, and engagements at the Piccolo Teatro
Milano and the creation of his own school, the Teatro Studio in Rome.
Returning
to Zurich in the late 1970s where he started a family and his daughter Sara is
born in 1983. Roy commits to the Schauspielhaus Zurich as a choreographer,
fencing master and body coach and occasionally appears in plays himself. He
becomes a physiotherapist and forms a gymnastics club in Zurich which he
continues to support until his death in 2004.
