Avelina Yegros Antón was born on
December 6, 1914 in Madrid, Madrid, Spain. She began her career at the age of
17 on stage, but soon moved to the cinema, where she was known as "La
Dulce Llorona" ("The Sweet Weeper"), because she often played
dramatic roles. She became a movie star during Spanish Second Republic and is
best remembered for films such as "La Bien Pagada" (1933), "Sor
Ángelica" (1934), "¿Quién me Quiere a Mi?" (1936), "Polizón
a Bordo" (1941), "Un Marido a Precio Fijo"(1942),
"Fuenteovejuna" (1946), "Pequeñeces" (1950), "Debla,
la Virgen Gitana" (1950), "Malvaloca" (1954), "Han Matado
un Cadáver" (1960), "Canción de Cuna" (1961), "Teresa de
Jesús" (1962).
Linda appeared in only one
Euro-western: “Mutiny at Fort Sharp” (1965) with Broderick Crawford.
Yegros died on May 19, 1978 in Madrid,
Spain.
Today we remember Linda Yegros on what
would have been her 100th birthday.
