Beni, aka
Benny Deus was born Venancio Deus Mejuto was born on December 12, 1919 in A Coruña,
Galicia, Spain. Deus began his career as a journalist and began his acting
career in the late 1940s, where the middle-sized, stocky actor was busy for the
next thirty years in about 140 plus rolls with a few Television appearances.
A supporting
actor Beni is remembered for appearances in “Los ojos dejan huellas” (1952) and
“I grandi condottieri” (1965) and “Poachers” (1975). Among his film appearances
were eleven Euro-westerns beginning with his portrayal of Dog in “Torrejón City”
in 1962 to “Thunder Over El Paso” in 1971. Some of his best known films were
“Finger on the Trigger” (1965) as O’Brien with Rory Calhoun, “Clint the Stranger”
(1967) as McKinley with George Martin and “The Magnificent Texan” (1967) as
Judge Wilkins with Glenn Saxson.
Deus died on
March 16, 1989 in Madrid, Spain.
Today we
remember Beni Deus on what would have been his 95th birthday.
