Luca Sportelli was born on March 11, 1927 in Bari, Puglia, Italy. Luca began his acting career on the stage but went on to appear in more than 100 films during the 1960s – 1980s. His film career began with appearances in Franco and Ciccio films and then progressed into crime and erotic comedy roles as the decades progressed. His best remembered role was in the film “La patata bollente” (The Hot Potato) (1979). Luca was also a screenwriter on “Difendersi o morire” (Defend Themselves or Die) (1978). Sportelli appeared in three Euro-westerns; “Ciccio Forgives… I Don’t”, “The Longest Hunt” (both 1968) and “The Last Traitor” (1971). Luca died on August 29, 1999 in Rome. Today we remember Luca Sportelli on what would have been his 85th birthday.
