Emmanuela Beltrán Rahola was born in Barcelona, Spain on November 21, 1946. She began working as an actress using the pseudonym Emma Cohen, during the late 1960s, first in an adaption of literary works such as Alexandre Dumas Pere’s "Count of Monte Cristo" and Wolfgang Goethe’s "Doctor Faust" (both 1969). She also appeared in episodes of the TV series "Estudio 1". In the 1970s she appeared in Spanish Horror films such as "Cuadecuc vampir" and "Nights of Dracula", appearing as a vampire in each along with the comedies "Amo mi cama rica", "Spaniards in Paris" and "Pierna creciente falda menguante" (all in 1970). In "Pierna creciente falda menguante" she worked along side director Don Fernando Fernán Gómez [1921-2007] whom she would work with many times during her career and eventually the two married in 2000. In 1979 she began working on the Spanish TV version of Sesame Street called "Barrio Sésamo" where she portrayed Caponata, a presumed chicken who was more casually similar to Big Bird. In the 1980s and 1990s her screen presence decreased as she worked almost exclusively with Fernán Gómez. Cohen worked in "The Dumbfounded King" (1991) in a great role as the widow duchess of Maestrazgo, and she is also credited as collaborator for Oscar-winning "Belle epoque" (1992, best foreign movie, and featuring Fernán-Gómez. She has since appeared in such films as "Bibliofrenia" (2003) or "Oculto" (2005), agian, usually only in projects where Fernán-Gómez has also been involved. Emma is also a journalist for Spanish newspaper El Mundo. Cohen appeared in three Euro-westerns; "Cut-Throats Nine" (1970), "The Legend of Frenchie King" (1971) and "Cippola Colt" (aka "Spaghetti Western") (1975). Today we celebrate Emma Cohen’s 65th birthday.
