The mysterious Zorro, intervened to prevent the marriage between Carmen and Marcel, in carrying out his usual acrobatics and during his retreat, he falls and is injured. Concerned about the invasion of the French mercenaries who rule Mexico, Padre Donato, with the help of his sexton Archimedes, forces a young man Felipe, a debtor who has taken refuge in the church after being pursued by French soldiers, to serve as a temporary Zorro. The myth must be served and driven by the power of his love for Rosie and driven. The disguise however, becomes very difficult when the governor is about to hang Count Manuel La Paz under the protection of De Colegnac, the best swordsman of France. With the coalition of the fake Zorro and his followers the fight for independence is revived and all ends up being right.
I don't see how this comedy can be classed as a Western. The setting is quite clear - Spain at the time of the Napoleonic invasion.
ReplyDeleteI agree Eddie but in some cuts the dialogue has been altered to make the action take place in Mexico.
