Happy 70th Birthday Pippo Franco
Francesco Pippo was born on September 2, 1940 in Rome, Italy. Now known as Pippo Franco he made his musical debut in Mario Mattoli's “Appuntamento a Ischia” in 1960. He accompanies the young Italian singer Mina in several songs. In the 1970s and '80s he took part in many Italian comedies such as “Quel gran pezzo dell'Ubalda tutta nuda e tutta calda” with Edwige Fenech and “Avanti!” with Jack Lemmon and Juliet Mills both in 1972. In 1981 he directs himself in “La gatta da pelare” (1981) for which he also wrote the screenplay and the music. In the '70s he devotes a great deal of his time with television and debuts on “Riuscirà il cav. papà Ubu?”. In 1978 “Il ribaltone”. Franco was also a song writer, singer and played the guitar with the group 'I Pinguini' with Christian Metz, Pino Pugliese, Giancarlo Impiglia, Armando Mancini and Aldo Perricone. As a singer he made more than a dozen albums and 15 45s. He's also written several books and appeared in the theater. In 2006 he unsuccessfully ran for the Italian Senate. Pippo appeared in only one Euro-western 1969's “Hate is My God” as a traveling minstrel. Today we celebrate Pippo Franco's 70th birthday.
