Remembering Stefano Sibaldi
Stefano Sibaldi was born on June 11, 1905 in Livorno, Italy. He debuted on stage in 1928 with the Palmarini Acting Co. He then worked in radio off and on during the 1930s and early 1940s. At the same time he worked in stage plays produced by the Company Falconi. After the war he became a voice dubber for the many American and International films that were distributed to Italy. He was the Italian voice for Frank Sinatra, Glenn Ford, Robert Cummings, Danny Kaye and Dan Dailey. He also dubbed into Italian many of the Disney animated films. Continuing his radio career he would appear in several made for TV plays including Mr. Dick in RAI's TV production of “David Copperfield”. He was the Italian narrator in 1961's “Mondo Cane”. Eventually he concentrated on voice dubbing. He was heard as the Italian voice of Carlo Rizzo in “The Kid of the West” (1942), for several soldiers in “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” (1966) , and was the voice of Keenan Wynn in “Once Upon a Time in the West.” Stefano died on July 2, 1996 in Rome. Today we remember Stefano Sibaldi on what would have been his 105th birthday.
He was also Sheriff Gideon in 'The White, The Yellow, The Black'.
ReplyDeleteYes Tamsin you are correct, Sibaldi was the Italian voice of Eli Wallach who played Sheriff Gideon in 1974's "The White, the Yellos, the Black.
