Spaghetti Western Locations ~ Rambla Viciana

Rambla Viciana stretches south of the current Mini Hollywood to the Ponte de Cautivo, at the same route as the current highway. The most characteristic point of this rambla is represented by a large oasis created for a film sequence in “Lawrence of Arabia” (1962), directed by David Lean, in which appears Peter O'Toole, Omar Shariff and the men who stop by the well of a palmetto. The location, was then used in other films, including “Gunmen Of The Rio Grande” (1964); “For a Few Dollars More” (1965); “Ballad of a Bounty Hunter” (1968); “The Hunting Party” (1971); “Silver Saddle” (1978), and today the cavity of the well is almost intact and still visible, although some palms have died and the area is occupied by other types of vegetation, especially eucalyptus. A few hundred meters to the south for the film “Gunfight at High Noon” (1963) the set of Gloria Milland's ranch and her three children was built. In the southernmost part of the rambla the sequence of the Indian attack on the caravan was filmed for the film “The Tall Women” (1966).
