Who Are Those Guys? - Franz Bonnet



Francis ‘Franz’ Bonnet was born on October 12, 1893, in Berlin, Berlin, Germany. He graduated after taking acting lessons from 1922-1924 from Ferdinand Gregori in Berlin. Here he made his debut as an actor in 1924. Engagements at the Volksbühne Berlin, followed from 1940 to 1956 and more stage activity in Schwerin, before he came to Berlin performing on other stages from 1962 at the Deutsches Theater.

Bonnet also acted in film work in the 1930s, mostly in smaller film roles. Later, he accepted film offers from DEFA, where he was also mostly seen in supporting roles. There he appeared in his only Euro-western “The Sons of Great Bear” (1965).

His son, Horst Bonnet [1931-2006], was a famous German director for musical theater pieces.

Bonnet died in Germany on September 28, 1972.
