DJANGO MARATHON FEATURES THREE CLASSIC GENRE FILMS AND INTRODUCTIONS BY EL REY NETWORK FOUNDER ROBERT RODRIGUEZ AND LEGENDARY DIRECTOR ENZO G. CASTELLARI
 
January 13, 2015 – Austin, TX - El Rey Network will air a Django Marathon on Saturday, January 31 featuring three Spaghetti Westerns that have inspired generations of filmmakers including El Rey Network creator Robert Rodriguez and DJANGO UNCHAINED Writer/Director Quentin Tarantino.  The triple feature kicks off with DJANGO at 2 PM/ET followed by DJANGO KILL…IF YOU LIVE, SHOOT! at 4 PM/ET and very special showing of KEOMA at 6:30 PM/ET hosted by the film’s director Enzo G. Castellari.

DJANGO, the 1966 film included in Quentin Tarantino’s top 20 ‘Spaghetti Westerns’, follows Django (the legendary Franco Nero) as a coffin-dragging gunslinger who enters a town caught between two quarreling groups, the KKK and a gang of Mexican Bandits.  The influential film, directed by Sergio Corbucci, is a masterpiece in the genre as it introduced unprecedented action inspiring numerous films including Tarantino’s own modern rendition, DJANGO UNCHAINED.   “His West was the most violent, surreal and pitiless landscape of any director in the history of the genre” – Tarantino referring to Corbucci’s landscape.

Saturday, January 31 at 4:00pmThe masterful DJANGO KILL…IF YOU LIVE, SHOOT! reintroduces a version of Django as a Mexican outlaw and leader of a band of thieves that work to steal a precious cargo of gold.  After a fierce battle with some Americans who turn on him, Django is left badly injured and presumed dead.  However, the unyielding bandit refuses to die and crawls his way out of his shallow grave to continue his relentless pursuit for the gold and a bloody vengeance.
