Spaghetti Western Locations

We begin a new search for locations used in the 1968 film “Death Rides a Horse”.  The film begins with a gang of outlaws robbing a farmhouse of a cache of gold and slaughtering the family and friends guarding the gold. Only a young boy is saved and he remembers specific things about each outlaw such as an earring, scars, spurs and tattoos. He’s saved from the burning house by one of the outlaws who’s wearing a skull on a chain around his neck. The film then forwards to 15 years later with the young man Bill Meceita now 20 years-old.

These opening scenes were filmed in Italy at an unknown location at one of the studios in or near Rome. Several other scenes were filmed in Italy before the production company moved to Spain to complete the rest of the film.
