Happy 85th Birthday Gianni Ferrio

Born Giovanni Achille Ferrio on November 16, 1924, in Vicenza, Italy. Gianni has been composing film scores since 1958's Toto film “Toto, Peppino e le fanatiche” and was one of the elite composers of Spaghetti Western scores during their heyday. He composed the soundtracks for most of the Giuliana Gemma westerns including “”Blood for a Silver Dollar” (1965), “Fort Yuma Gold” (1966), “Wanted” (1967), “Alive or Preferably Dead” (1969), “California” (1977) and “Tex and the Lord of the Deep” (1985). Some of his other most recognizable Spaghetti Western scores were “Death Sentence” (1967), “Find a Place to Die” (1968), “A Bullet for Sandoval” (1969), “The Ballad of Ben and Charlie” (1971), and “Long Live Your Death” (1971). He's composed over 100 film scores and is still active today scoring the 2008 film “Labyrinthus” with Luc Merenda. His music was also used in Quentin Tarantino's “Kill Bill” films and exposed to a younger audience. Today we celelbrate Gianni Ferrio's 85th birthday.
